SHOWDAY

What a fabulous New Zealand tradition. We are very lucky at our school to still have 'SHOWDAY' which is becoming more and more uncommon as our rural schools become more urbanised. It is what communities were built on and these types of days are what make communities. It's a time for parents, students, teachers and all community members to get together.

Our students all make craft items, including the traditional calf club day activities. They are also encouraged to bring a lamb or calf which they compete with for various ribbons. The numbers are getting smaller for this each year so we will be encouraging more students to 'borrow' a calf or lamb from a local farmer next year to hand rear. If you know of a local farmer who would be able to assist with lambs or calves please let school know.

A lot of time is spent by parents, students and of course teachers to make this day successful. A big congratulations to everyone for another great Parua Bay School Showday.

We hope you enjoy these photos of the students work.

EXPERIENCING MARINE RESERVES
Our senior students completed an indepth study of marine reserves. We have New Zealand's newest marine reserve on our back doorstep. The enviroment we live in is extremely important to our community so we take advantage of all the wonderful things it has to offer as often as we can.

Our Hall Opening - 2006
In 2006 our school had our official hall opening ceremony. We were very lucky to have Helen Clark, our Primeminister, to officially open our hall for us.
